This unique and fun chess camp is brought to you from the mind of National Master Jesse Cohen and his team amazing team of coaches. Summit School of Chess has trained 20 Students to State Champion Titles and has introduced chess in fun and exciting ways to thousands of children around the Greater Denver Metro areas and the world!

This camp will feature a world-class chess curriculum
created specifically for each of the three skill levels:

Beginners

Players who are just starting out, or players who know how the pieces move but are still learning all the ins, outs and strategies of the game

Intermediate Players

Players who know how to play an entire game and may have some familiarity with how to checkmate. These players might also know a few tactics and plans but need developing!

Advanced Players

Players who have played in many rated tournaments and are looking for a super-charged, super-challenging camp with expert/master level classes and tutorials

We’ve designed a unique and engaging program for kids’ chess instruction in Denver, where learning vital chess concepts is as fun as playing the game itself! Games, trivia, and creative activities bring the lessons to life.

 

Your child will leave our chess summer camps in Denver with a deeper understanding of chess strategy and tactics – and fantastic memories, too! Bio

National Master Jesse Cohen is very passionate about coaching young chess enthusiasts of today so that they can turn into chess masters of tomorrow. Through this website, he has made a sincere effort to offer invaluable Chess Lessons for budding learners to raise their chess playing skills to a whole new level. The primary purpose of these lessons is to develop a sound understanding of the strategies involved in the game, and how to execute them in real-time during a live game of chess.

I’ve been playing chess since about the age of three. My first tournament was at 6, and I won the K-3 state championship at 7. Some of my best childhood memories were spent at tournaments, and learning chess from my various teachers. Now, 20-some years later, I have had the privilege to teach many of my own students. I have taught in elementary schools and middle schools in the Fort Collins area (I am now located in Longmont) as well as tutored several private students who have gone on to be successful in their local tournaments. I am delighted to be teaching again in my local area, and will be accepting private students at any skill level.

I am a musician and small business owner but chess is one of my greatest passions. I have been playing since 14 but haven’t been really competitive since the last couple years. I have an online rating that hovers around 1850 – 1900 but haven’t played enough rated over the board matches to have a legit OTB rating and aim to change that. I teach music for a living working with kids and adults and have been teaching chess for a little under a year now and absolutely love it. Teaching is my favorite way to learn and grow while helping others do the same. I would be a great choice for a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player though if you’re an advanced player Summit has some fantastic higher level coaches that may be a better option

Michael Mulyar is an International Master from Westminster, Colorado.  He has tied for 1st place at the US Open in 1999 and 2007 and was the runner-up in 2014.  He was US Junior Co-Champion in 1998.  Michael won the Samford Chess Fellowship in 2000 after graduating from Yale University.  Still an active player, Michael’s recent successes include 1st (tie) in the Charlotte Chess Center Summer Invitational in 2022 and 4th place (tie) at the Chicago Open 2023.  He is currently rated 2361 FIDE.
